"Made by New South Wales startup Vallkree and called The Mechanism, the bike is billed as a high-performance, eco-friendly mode of transport, equally at home on offroad trails or congested city streets. Conceived and engineered in Byron Bay the bike is fitted with a Samsung 20AH battery, and dual front and rear 500W motors, giving it 1000W of power on tap. That allows the bike to achieve off-road speeds of up to 50kph with a range of 45km on a full charge.

"While the Vallkree resembles a vintage bike it makes for an electrifying alternative to a traditional mountain bike. The company says riders can tackle beach dunes, mountain trails or hill roads.

"Founded in 2013, Vallkree started out making a more traditional single-engine bike.

"Terumi Iwagami, CEO at Vallkree, says the progression to dual motors positions the bikes as a simpler alternative to riding a motorbike.

“We call Vallkree bikes ‘freedom machines’ because they are incredibly fun and easy to use. With dual motors, you don’t need a motorbike license, registration, petrol, or even a destination. Just a helmet, the desire for adventure and the freedom to ride off-road”, said Iwagami.

"The dual-motor Mechanism is the first bike of its kind to be made by an Australian owned and operated company."
